Moon is based in Germany (I thought he was Russian) and we know that Killer7 had their computers and drives seized, and the German government won't return them but have not arrested him for a crime either. They went after K7 for a nude thumbnail for a base character in Daz (the ones that have no genitalia by default) but have not arrested K7, but it seems like Moon may not have been as lucky. Non-realistic images and videos are supposed to be legal in Germany, but that does not seem to stop the police and prosecutors from harassing Daz creators.

Not sure about Germany but not every country goes that hard over just C P possession (production is another thing). The US is probably the worst on the planet for that as many are just fines and maybe probation and community service, essentially the US equivalent of a misdemeanor. Hell even in China if caught you just get summoned to the local police station and usually they will just tell you to stop downloading or watching porn (they don't distinguish which fetish or type of porn as it's all illegal) and send you on your way with a warning, though they have 0 tolerance for repeat offenders.

Edit: Just checked, in Germany it's also just a misdemeanor = 3 months jail or at worst 5 years maximum (probably reserved for repeat offenders or the absolute worst who had half the Darknet on their PC's, or were selling it so gets a "commercial purposes" consideration, plus ages are also probably a big consideration with actors being 5 or 15 making a big difference). And all that is referring to the real thing, cartoons are 100% legal, at least in theory, as there's no specific law against it.

Yes, it’s perfectly natural that among developers there are many "milkers"—and quite a few who don’t even know what they’re writing about; projects from such authors are doomed to fail from the start. But there are also those who truly know their craft, yet simply had bad luck—take WESTY, for example, who was singled out to be a scapegoat. I don’t believe a single word of the accusations leveled against him. It’s just that the "defenders of the rights of underage pixels" needed a high-profile figure—someone whose dramatic downfall would serve to frighten as many people as possible.

Well, I didn't know Westy personally and certainly never met him IRL but supposedly it was his other hobbies that got him busted/outed, the media just focused on his fictional AVN rather than his RL teen "LI" and those (mis)adventures as unbelievable as that is. My guess is those stalking incidents are what actually got LE taking a closer look at him after they called the cops. Moral of the story is keep doing things you're not supposed to and sooner or later you will get caught, happens rather often with incest couples that also have an exhibitionism fetish (that mom/son couple in TX getting caught in the local church of all places the main one I remember, what a horror that had to have been to make national news. I’ve given some thought to his case, and to me, it just doesn’t add up. Some people like living on the edge I guess as far as why they do things that to others would be stupid or insane, often including to themselves with hindsight as that's always 20/20. I used to assume the side charges were fake news, the evidence of his side hobbies was planted, etc. Now I simply don't think so, as I don't see why anyone would plea bargain to additional trumped up/false charges. Plus it's just too much of a risk from the police's standpoint if he called their bluff and took it to trial and evidence of their misconduct came to light during it. All charges getting dismissed with the "bad guy" getting away with whatever lesser things he actually did would be the least of their problems. As far as stupidity, making PF alone was a terrible idea when living in a country that legally treats it the same as real C P and where First Amendment is not an available legal defense. He could have have just sold real C P and probably ended up with a similar sentence.
