discussion Do You Grind Through Boring Gameplay Just to Complete the Gallery?

Porn Games with Gameplay — this thread got me thinking about the opposite problem...

What do you guys do when a game looks pretty good, but the gameplay itself is painfully boring? Do you keep pushing through just to unlock every CG and complete the gallery?

I don't have that completionist urge at all. If I unlock one decent scene or reach one ending and I'm already bored, I'll usually drop the game right there. I don't even bother downloading someone else's 100% save to check out the missing CGs.

Dropping a game halfway through still feels a little wrong, but forcing myself to keep playing just feels like I'm punishing myself...

Once playing starts to feel like a chore, I'm done.

Short answer: No
Usually if a game get's me bored i'll just jump to another one, maybe i give another try later.

i have to agree with the other two and say that if the gameplay sucks and i just want to see the scenes i unlock them in some other way

I mostly just use cheats or download a 100% save file. I'm definitely not going to torture myself playing a boring game just for a gallery.

If the game is boring from the beginning, then no, it gets binned or I find a gallery save if the scenes are nice.
Sometimes I'll play a game that's fun initially, but becomes a slog trying to 100% the gallery, in which case I sadly do endure it.

Depends on the game, but if I liked it enough to actually complete it typically yes. Exceptions when either the dev includes an unlock all button at the end of one route (basically acknowledging playing the game extra times is unlikely to keep you engaged) or on rare occasions when it literally requires a bunch of playthroughs from scratch with little variation to the story in the process (parallel type scenes but with early branching). Sometimes I regret trying to complete all scenes though if there is no hint in game and you just have to guess the location, trigger conditions, etc...

That game for me was "The Bum", even with all the cheats I used, It was extremely hard to achieve that with multiple playthroughs.

If it's too boring, i'll better ask for 100% save file from community, or using cheat to open all scene, that's my only way if i reaaally just wanna watch the entire gallery, i'll watch the scene > close the game > and remove it, not gonna wasting my time to continue playin those game

Hell nah if a game is boring unplayable slop i wont bother to just hit the tab button so it will skip to the point

Sadly, I did waste hours in games when I thought that was the only way, even replaying different branches that are 98% the same, until I finally discovered holding control and pressing tab, so I do that now

Gallery unlockers help, but don't always have all scenes and context is lost

Still prefer to just have good games though

Not to unlock the gallery but sometimes at the beginning I quickly skip to the first sex scene just to see if I like them. If I do, then I play normal from the beginning.

If I really want just the game's assets, I'll rip them but generally speaking, if I'm not willing to play the game, I probably don't care much for its assets.

I also only play visual novels (usually only those made in Renpy), so in most cases, unlocking scenes I missed is just a matter of loading an older save and making different choices. That being said, generally the scenes I don't unlock are scenes I didn't want to see anyway because they are likely tied to a route or LI I choose not to go with.

I actually tend to specifically avoid sandbox and RPGM games because their "gameplay" is there just to literally pad out the game with grindy elements. I play traditional games as well so I don't need "gameplay" heavy porn games.

Depends on my mood at the time, i consider myself to be a bit of a patient guy for the most part but sometimes when it gets to hours without accomplishing anything i stop until i feel like playing it again.

It really depends if I like the animations, character design, art style, etc. If it's really bad sometimes there's gallery unlocker mods I try and find

No, I only try to get gallery unlocks for characters I really connected with or that are extra juicy for the game.
If I have to go out of my way to get any scenes, secrets, or gallery unlocks I don't really bother. It's very unlikely that anything more than an hour of grinding is ever worth the time incestment.
