At least that method has some context unlike some games that include some sort of collectable that shows you a character nude without any sort of context.
It's the easiest way to throw in fanservice with the opportunity to enjoy seeing the LIs in different outfits and exhibitionism as you mentioned. So, I'm not complaining tbh.
gives you something to not bore yourself to death during the first part of the story, worst part is when (expecially in sandbox) to see in the changing room you have to buy the dress and spend money
tropes are tropes for a reason. It's not easy to think up something new, if thousands of people did the same thing before you. Literally every story arc has already been written somewhere by somebody, so it's easier to just do the tried and proven thing. And if the dev indeed has a good, novel idea, then that's just a small part of the story and he/she still has to fill in the rest with something.
I feel like changing room scenes are a staple for VN's. Anime most always have a beach episode, so I'd say chsnging room scenes are from the same vain.
Besides who honestly doesn't like the fantasy of sneaking a peek of your significant other in a public changing space?
It's a kink. It's like sex in public, but you are not actually visible, you have a drape that "protects" your privacy, so it works like an intermediate lewdness level. It's the same thing as sex in a public toilet, or in a gym shower.
What we need is a Changing Room game where all the action/story takes place there, and the protaganist goes home once a week for an hour.
The owner of the shop turns out to be a long lost Auntie. The Mother runs a gym (where the equipment is broken, but the showers still work) and the Sister runs a modelling agency!
Hmmmm.
I have to admit that I always try to peek into the changing rooms, especially when I see a cute girl entering. So I understand why these scenes exist and love them.
That game would be long and boring. In reality, women realize very quickly realize if you are peeking because they are used to the looks.
So yeah, the game would be boring and long.
