Porn games obviously. They're all incredibly formulaic. They have no identity, all look the same, and are ugly even from an aesthetic standpoint. So why are they so popular?

Take "games" off and ask the same question. You get the same answer. It doesnt matter all that much if it is the same because most people consuming this content are in it for the tits, not the plot. And even those like me that are in it for the plot are not expecting half a billion worth of Hollywood talent in it.

i would say this is an issue that stems more with adult/18+ entertainment as a whole, in a market where you can just put the trashcan on the market and it sells there is not much innovation or quality. witch is why i highly enjoy the games that put in the effort to have good gameplay/story along with the lewd parts like MGQ and MGQ paradox

With so few creators catering to niche kinks, the chances of finding someone who can produce polished, visually appealing 3D art are low. But games catering to those kinks are also scarce, so people in those communities end up playing them, whether by choice or for lack of alternatives. That’s why it seems like so many people choose relatively rough-looking 3D games. In reality, it’s just an illusion created by the limited number of options.
