i know it become more work for the creators but having more clothes for character makes them seem more real instead of those fictional character that only have one type of clothing in their wardrobe.
Given the extra work, just a few changes are enough most of the time. Non harem games, with an extra focus on story, can benefit greatly from this, provided the art (renders) are pretty enough.
I think multiple outfits is fairly realistic. I dont really care about being the one to pick, but if I see the character where the same clothes in every single scenario the entire game it does kind of weird me out.
I tend to like a lot different outfits options, and more if they're changeable, it makes the game so alive and feels more immersive, I really like it, it also show that devs care about their game and not just do one outfit or two for the characters
It is a good thing to have in a game, makes it more immersive. But from the developer (artist mainly) PoV, it is a very high effort step, unless you only show the outfit as a standing portrait. It would require to redraw a lot of CGs, adapt some dialogue to not look low effort, account for various situations, etc. So I can understand how many developers do not have many clothing changes, or have them very limited/temporary.
Yes, at least make a few different outfits for locations like home, shopping, sleeping, whatever. Makes it feel more alive, but there is no reason to waste time, making clothing for every other day, just a little spice/switching up from time to time should be done. Obviously i can talk only from my opinion.
