I just can't fathom why they're still a thing. Do any of you still enjoy them? ''Oh, I gotta go in the bedrrom at 10:00 for such and such, to trigger such other thing'', such a grindfest, and not that kind of grinding.
Yes, some people enjoy sandbox/point and click games. Always did, that's why they exist.I just can't fathom why they're still a thing. Do any of you still enjoy them? In my opinion, the inclusion of statistics and time does not have to be bad per se, but it has to be accompanied by mechanics that as you make an effort you can make things easier and that they are done more easily, let's take the farm type as an example, at the beginning you have the tedious work of plowing, planting and watering the field and on top of that it wastes the energy you have, limiting what you can do, but as you progress you get things that improve your energy and make your work easier, such as automatically watering or being able to till more land at once. Just once, the trick is to find the balance so as not to frustrate the player. Maybe you are thinking that if you are going to do this, you better make it easier from the beginning or eliminate the mechanics, but with that what you get is the feeling of achievement, of course this only happens if it is done well.Well good for those that enjoy sandbox cow clicker games cause I sure as hell don't.
Sure it can be done in a good way and a few games are enjoyable, but most just become chores with how it's implemented.
The ones that add a time mechanic and other stats are the worst.
Stuff from then looks like shit compared to today. There are way better ways to do things, and having to find the right thing to click is a pain in the ass equivalent to a hemorrhoid spurting blood and pus.wait, for porn specifically? I like it, if it works. I do like a linear narative.
But historically, they are one of THE BEST GENRES of video games. Seriously! If you missed the 90s, they may be a lost cause for you, but man, some of the best stories in video games' history have come from PnC games!
Did you ever play the Leisure Suit Larry games?
Leisure Suit Larry
arent you, "from 'before' then?"Stuff from then looks like shit compared to today. There are way better ways to do things, and having to find the right thing to click is a pain in the ass equivalent to a hemorrhoid spurting blood and pus.
Yeah, before point and click games and then after later. Those games don't look good now, and don't like the whole point and click thing.arent you, "from 'before' then?"
^This mainly. It depends and depends, there are hundreds of games that this generated, some better and some worse, but it is a genre like any other that has its own audience, the important thing in these games are 3 things; plot, characters and above all puzzle mechanics.
an ordinary VN lmaoI just can't fathom why they're still a thing. Do any of you still enjoy them? ''Oh, I gotta go in the bedrrom at 10:00 for such and such, to trigger such other thing'', such a grindfest, and not that kind of grinding.
I disagree. Again, a good puzzle or minigame can give the game actual gameplay and make it more fun overall- I've played games with totally skippable game elements where I found myself putting the story and lewd scenes on the backburner while I played the minigame over and over. Not because the other stuff wasn't good, but because the minigame actually was.Puzzles/minigames/etc in porn games are a Very Bad Thing...
