discussion Do you prefer a faceless protagonist in your games?

[ga32414]

I prefer faceless protagonists but I don't mind otherwise, my biggest gripe is sometimes games with great characters/story have this over the top very muscular, unnatural protagonist.

[elfieeven]

No, because it really limits the creators ability to setup the best possible shots.

[squishysquash]

faceless is a bit too spooky for me. I like when the protagonist has a cute face.

[azbest2k]

faceless, if game have some plot face given MC by authors is acceptable, otherwise faceless

[TwistedKnyte]

Depends on the game sometimes I like the faceless if its an older dude, but really depends on the story the game creator is aiming for.

[xxxlugexxx]

I prefer it to be true, sometimes I find it strange that characters talk to someone invisible

[TwistedKnyte]

I pref faceless cuz you can fill in what ever person or possible race. some kinda auto fill, but that obviously for particular relations,

in games that prioritize story a MC needs to have a character to make the story engaging. However if its just sex then its not really that necessary

[FancyPrince]

dont mind either way, but if it hinders the progress of the game development than id rather the mc be faceless

[CyborgBLUE]

Personally I like to see the face of the character I play. I even like that his face has a bit of personality like in "But I'm the bad guy"

[doesntlikellamas]

Its tough for them to get the perfect amount of good-looking average joe guy.

You must be registered to see attachments

show the face once, then only show the women.

okay, thats pretty fair ngl more devs should follow on wtvr you're cooking up

[Loscipher]

Yea now that you mentioned it I think I do prefer faceless.

[Trickster]

I prefer it if the main character we play as has their face shown.

[KPIG_TV]

I prefer POV in terms of MC. You don't really need to see MCs face

[DannyO24]

Faceless works for me, I prefer not to see the MC's face as apposed to seeing an off putting MC model.

[verybadboye]

could not care less because thats the last place ill be staring at anyway

[LewisCarroll]

Mostly faceless. One, it makes it a little easier on the imagination and two, as I am now developing my own game, it really does cut down on posing and rendering times.

[irpotato556]

For me I prefer for the protag to be faceless(face is obscured or the game is in first person perspective the majority of the game) because I like to self-insert when playing. And seeing a face that doesn't resemble mine breaks the illusion.

For the games where I self-insert I could agree a little bit, but it is like a different life so I am okay with seeing MC's face. It also depends on how the Dev obscures the face too.. Like a certain basketball avn if I remember well you're face the few times it would be shown is just a black box. While I enjoy the game that is just lazy and in poor taste.

[HarryMason]

Indifferent, I usually don't stare at the male MC face as I'm looking at something else.
