To me, the presence or absence of animations is of no fundamental importance. The most important thing is a well-developed plot and deeply developed characters.
Definition animation. Stills are better than nothing, but when you spend a decent amount of time building up to a scene and it's just a picture, it feels very anti-climactic.
if this was 1972, static images would be good but if i cant see a blow job happening with the actions why put sex in the vn/game.
its 2024, my computer will give me access to a website that will make me a video of a giraffe giving birth to a porcupine.
this should not even be a question that needs to be asked.
I think animation would always be preferable if it's good. That said I'd take still images over jank animations any day. The increased Dev time is also an issue with animations
Both! The trick is to get the balance right and to select the right scenes for animating. I don't need an animation of someone walking to their car, entering it and starting it. That would be way too much effort for something I really don't need to see. The dancing lesson in The Headmaster on the other hand? Yes, that's the kind of thing that animation is for. For that I'll gladly wait a little longer for a release or accept getting slightly less other content.
